Cradle of the first civilizations in the world, and land of conquest by the most powerful empires of its time –Hittite, Persian, Greek, Roman, Armenian, Goth, Mongol, Ottoman– Turkey breathes history throughout its territory. It can be seen in every archaeological site, but also in the faces of the Turks, a very diverse people. As you travel through the geography many things change: the accents, the degree of traditionalism and faith, the foods and even the ways of drinking tea. Türkiye is also home to other ethnic groups, such as Kurds and Syrians.
This mosaic is not only cultural, but also natural. The landscape variety is astonishing, from 40ºC deserts in the southeast to rainforests on the north coast and its surrounding mountains. Beaches with a crystal clear sea, high mountain ranges, plains with Martian rock formations, dense forests, bare deserts... Turkey is not missing anything!
El Pekín Express Canino. In March 2019, my dog Cocaí and I left Madrid with a backpack, a tent and an ambitious mission: hitchhiking to China. When we were in India, an unwanted guest came on the scene and turned the world upside down, including our trip. Three years later we returned home, taking with us a path full of learning, adventures, wonderful beings... and a new dog: Chai :-) More info about this book, actually a trilogy, here (only Spanish).
South America & North America Travel Diaries. These two books speak, in the form of diaries, of my first years as a backpacker, including the encounter with Cocaí in Bolivia and all the adventures I lived with her. I place special emphasis on the connection with nature and the people that the journey gave us. Read more here (only Spanish).
